Roomier than ever before
A number of the new upgrades in the 2019 G-Class are related to space. A 40-mm increase in the vehicle's wheelbase translates to a 1.5 increase in legroom for those in front and an exceptional 5.9-inch increase for those in back. Other space increases include 1.5 inches of shoulder room and 2.7 inches of elbow room at the front (1.1 inches and 2.2 inches in the back), but the increases don't stop there.
Thanks to a wider door angle and improved foot clearance, getting into and out of the G-Class is easier than ever before. While you're opening those doors, you may notice they're nearly twice as thick as before. That increased thickness serves two purposes: first, it helps the G-Wagen meet passive safety requirements, and secondly, it gave Mercedes-Benz engineers more space for sound-deadening materials.
