Rockefeller Tree is from Maryland!

The Christmas tree at Rockefeller Center in New York City is the American symbol of holiday cheer. For the first time ever, the tree will be coming from our neck of the woods. The 79-foot Norway Spruce from Cecil County, Maryland arrived at Rockefeller Center just a few days ago.

On December 1, the tree will be lit with more than 50,000 multi-colored LED lights, using 5 miles of wiring! And what’s a Christmas tree without a star? This year’s star was designed by Daniel Libeskind in 2018 with 70 spikes and covered in 3 million Swarovski crystals.

The first ever Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree was celebrated in 1931. Be sure to tune in on December 1st to watch the Norway Spruce from Elkton, Maryland get lit at Rockefeller Center in New York City.
